SELF INVESTMENT

When we talk about ” investing ” we usually think of investments in stocks, real estate or businesses of some sort. These kinds of investments can and are very important to our future success and happiness, but the most important investment we can ever make. Is the investment of our time and effort,  in learning all we can about the world around us and our place within it. The best way to do this is to buy and study books by people we admire, and who can lead us and teach us about the things that we wish to learn. For example if we wish to learn about investing in real estate, we should read books by Donald Trump, who better? If the stock market is calling to us, then we should study what Warren Buffett has to say on the subject. No matter what or where our interest lies, simply find out who is the recognized leader in that field past or present and chances are good he or she has written a book.  In the grand scheme of our lives, the cost of a 5-15 dollar book is by and far the best money we can spend in the interest of self learning. How much is your success worth to you?

Over the years of our life we can and should amass a large and diverse library of self learning materials. It should be one of our main goals in life to try and learn one new thing each and every day of our lives. As this will prevent us from falling into a rut where we think we know everything and stop exercising our greatest muscle, our brain. By reading a diverse library of books we also broaden our view of what success is and give ourselves more and better ideas of how to get there.

I read at least one chapter in a self learning success training book every day, including weekends.  I have books in my library that I have read through cover to cover more than a dozen times. This is very important, buying and reading a book once is not enough. Our brains do not retain knowledge this way. For us as human beings to learn, we must reread books over and over again to impress on our brains the importance of the information. Only then will our brain realize that what we are reading is not just some fluff novel, but rather important material worth learning and implementing into our lives. What we read is equally important as how we read. Here are some ideas for where you can start, and where you can find them.

My library includes such titles as:

Think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill

The Lazy investor and Stop Working by Derek Foster

Why we want you to be rich by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki

The Rich dad Poor dad series by Robert Kiyosaki

Think big and kick ass by Donald Trump

The one minute millionaire by Mark Victor Hansen & Robert G. Allen

You can IF you believe you can by Peter Legge

and ALL of Jeffrey Giomer’s books

These are but a small sample of the books in my library. I’m 45 years old this December, over the years I’ve easily spent into the thousands of dollars on books. I do not regret any of these purchases, not one. Neither should you. The BEST investment you can ever make is an investment in yourself. The more you read the more you will know and the better choices you will make in life.

Success in money and life is not rocket science. All it takes is a willingness to learn and an investment in yourself first. Now get reading.
