Make a difference give to your local FOOD BANK
It is only natural that as we progress in our search for wealth and success, we feel need to try and make the world around us a better place. If not us then who, if not now then when? I like to think that when you give of yourself and your money, god looks down from heaven and says ” good job keep it up ” then gives you stewardship over more and more of his wealth. I don’t care who YOUR god is, or whether you believe in a “god” or not. I believe that there is something in this existence that transcends our mortal being. Call it god or the spirit world or karma or whatever you want to call it, it exists and that is what matters. We have the ability in our lives to either help or hinder our fellow man/woman, and I believe that eventually we reap what we sow. If we do good in our lives then we will get good things back in one form or another, and if we do evil things we will get back in kind at some point.
As we get closer and closer to our definition of wealthy I believe we have a responsibility to share or give back to the collective community of humankind. Whether you do it in the form of volunteering or donating it is up to you, but I urge you to do something. The sense of pride and purpose you get in return is something that you will never be able to get doing anything else in this life. You will notice in my budget calculations from the last step page I state that the amount you should give is equal to the amount you should allow yourself in entertainment. The reason for this is simple, as you gain more and more wealth in the form of income from your various endeavors, you allow yourself to play harder and give more back to the world at the same time. You feel good as you play and you feel even better about yourself because you know that you are making a real difference for more and more people as your wealth grows and grows. This is what it means to be a good steward.
I am a firm believer in supporting LOCAL charities, as such I recommend that you search out your local food bank, homeless, womens and teen shelters, these charities are always in need of both volunteers and funding. Online we can certainly do good as well by supporting The Hunger site in their quest to feed the worlds hungry, and I urge you to participate it is free, you just go there and click the “click here to give button” and their sponsors do the rest. We should never pass up the opportunity to do good, when we give of ourselves we get the most important thing of all: self respect.
